Water Main Installation Work in Rumson

Some piping dates back to the 1930s.

New Jersey American Water construction crews are busy in Rumson installing more than 1,100 feet of water main that dates back to the 1930s.

Approximately 600 feet of water main is being installed along Lincoln Avenue,  from Ward and Waterman avenues. Cast iron pipes that were two inches in diameter are being replaced by larger, eight-inch PVC pipes.

Crews are also installing 600 feet of eight-inch PVC pipe on Ward Lane from E. River Road to Avenue of Two Rivers, replacing 1.5 inch galvanized steel pipes.

The more than $150,000 in main replacements began last month and are expected to be completed by early November.

The project is part of New Jersey American Water’s Community Pipeline Revival (CPR) a multimillion dollar program to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that is reaching the end of its problem-free life in more than 100 communities across the state.
