Secaucus Looks For Person Who Killed Deer With Arrow, Near Archery Field

"We know it was shot in Secaucus and walked to the field where it died. It's very sad," said Mayor Mike Gonnelli.

SECAUCUS, NJ — The carcass of a dead deer was found Sunday morning on the Millridge Road softball fields.

Secaucus Police say the animal was shot and killed by a bow and arrow. MillRidge baseball/softball fields are near the town public archery area.

"The animal was killed in Secaucus," Mayor Mike Gonnelli said Monday. "We know it was shot in Secaucus and walked to the field, where it died. It's very sad."

It is illegal to hunt within Secaucus town limits. Secaucus Police and New Jersey Conservation Police are working to find the person who shot and killed the deer by arrow hunting.

Secaucus Police were called to the Millridge Field softball field at 8 a.m. Sunday for a report of a dead male buck found in the field.
