Explore Secaucus' Newest Restaurant, The Franklin on 5th Street

SECAUCUS, NJ — Here's some info. on the newest restaurant in Secaucus, The Franklin at the corner of Fifth and Front streets (780 Fifth Street, to be exact).

The restaurant started in Jersey City, with The Franklin first opening in April 2019 in the Jersey City Heights (159 New York Avenue).

In March 2022, The Franklin opened a second location, opening in a bigger space in Secaucus. They are open seven days a week for lunch, brunch and dinner, and say they serve "a thoughtfully prepared menu of American favorites and Italian specialties."

Led by Chef Jaime Ramirez, a 20+ year veteran of North Jersey kitchens, The Franklin says they want to be "the friendliest and most accessible of neighborhood restaurants, but with an elevated aspect to many of the dishes on the menu."

They have a daily brunch menu of omelettes, benedicts and The Franklin Burger (chorizo, guac, burrata) served every day. For dinner, they serve kale Caesar salad, veal meatballs and PEI mussels and entrees and pastas that include veal Milanese, braised short rib, wild mushroom & salmon risotto and lamb sugo pappardelle, plus other offerings. While their Jersey City Heights location is BYOB, The Franklin Secaucus boasts a full bar, curated with the assistance of sommelier & consultant Joel Liscio. They serve sparkling, white, rosé and red wines. Top-shelf craft spirits boost the quality of the cocktail list, which includes the Rosa Paloma (Codigo Rosa, Fever Tree Grapefruit, Lime) and the Vertigo (Averna Amaro Siciliano, Ginger Beer, Lemon). They also serve a "focused" selection of craft beers.

Their Secaucus location seats 90 with a roomy bar area and a larger dining area in the back, available for private parties or buyouts. The team at The Franklin is also a family affair; the chef’s daughter Kelly is general manager and other family members round out the team.

The Franklin says they want to offer delicious, approachable and affordable American and Italian food and drink for longtime neighborhood residents and destination diners alike.
