For First Time Ever, Secaucus Hospital Gets 'B' Safety Grade
This is significant news, because when it was Meadowlands Medical Center, it was routinely given 'D' grades from Leapfrog:

SECAUCUS, NJ — The town hospital in Secaucus received a B grade in the spring 2022 Leapfrog hospital rankings.
This is significant news, because when the hospital had previous owners and was called Meadowlands Medical Center, Leapfrog routinely gave it "D" grades for patient safety and overall quality.
In 2018, the hospital was purchased by real estate developer Yan Moshe, who took over operations and renamed it Hudson Regional. 2022 is the first time the hospital was given a grade above a "C."

In 2021 and 2020, under Moshe's ownership at that time, it received "C" grades (https://patch.com/new-jersey/s...).
Moshe is still battling with rival Hudson County hospital owners CarePoint to take over ownership of Bayonne Medical Center and Hoboken University Medical Center. For the past several years, Moshe and CarePoint have been entangled in a complicated legal battle due to his attempts to buy those two hospitals. Now back to the 2022 grades ...
“We made the decision to file with Leapfrog immediately upon taking over ownership in 2018, despite knowing that our rating would reflect the previous owner’s performance,” Dr. Nizar Kifaieh, president and CEO of Hudson Regional. (Leapfrog makes its assessment using data from the two years prior.)
“We knew we would initially receive D-ratings because that was consistent with the ratings that the previous owner received before discontinuing to file," he continued (When the hospital was Meadowlands, they simply stopped submitting data to Leapfrog, he said).
"But we also knew that we were securing the right staff and implementing the latest best practices, which would earn us better ratings moving forward. Through the hard work of our dedicated staff, a D quickly became a C, which is now a B. We are thankful to everyone on our staff for making that happen," he said.
Here are the spring 2022 grades for all the hospitals in Hudson County:
A - Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, owned by Hackensack Meridian
B - Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus, owned by Yan Moshe
B - Jersey City Medical Center, owned by Barnabas Health
C - Hoboken University Medical Center, owned by CarePoint
C - Christ Hospital in the Jersey City Heights, owned by CarePoint
C - Bayonne Medical Center, owned by CarePoint

In addition to its "B" grade, Hudson Regional Hospital was recently named a Primary Stroke Center by the NJ Department of Health. Its Institute for Robotic Surgery also received the first ever accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation.
