July Nature Programs For Kids At Liberty State Park
All of these programs are free, and are offered by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection:

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Here are unique ways to get kids outside this summer, and close to home as well. All of these programs are free, and are offered by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
Pre-registration is required for all programs unless specified. Space is limited. For more information or to register for a program, please contact the Liberty Park Nature Center at (201) 915-3400, ext. 503 or email LSPNatureCenter@dep.nj.gov. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum of six participants per reservation. Pets are not permitted on programs unless they are service animals.
Saturday, July 5 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Low Tide Beach Walk

Come on out to Liberty State Park for a beach walk and scavenger hunt at Caven Point Beach! We will meet in Lot #1 located at 300 Morris Pesin Drive and then walk over to our beach area. Please be advised there is over a mile and a half of walking involved. Be sure to dress to be outdoors and wear old shoes that can get wet or muddy. If it is a hot day, sunscreen and water are also recommended. All ages welcome.
Friday, July 18 and Tuesday, July 29 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Storytime and Craft

Come on out to the Nature Center to hear a story about the different kinds of wildlife and habitats found in Liberty State Park, and then make a story-related craft to take home with you. We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. All ages welcome.
Sunday, July 20 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Mark-marking in the Park
Mark marking in art uses lines, dots, marks, patterns and textures on a surface to create pieces of art. Join local author and illustrator Veronica Mang and our Park Naturalists to visit a few habitats in Liberty State Park and use natural materials to create mark-marking art! We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. Please dress to be outdoors and wear shoes comfortable for walking. If it is a hot day, sunscreen water, and insect repellent are also recommended. Recommended for ages 6 & up.
Thursday, July 24 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Nature Walk and Craft: Beach
Come on out to Liberty State Park for a beach walk and scavenger hunt, and then make a beach craft to take home with you! We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. Saturday, July 26 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Explore the Estuary
Join us on a hands-on adventure to Caven Point Beach where we will explore the amazing wildlife of the Hudson River estuary and learn what lives out there in our very own backyard! We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way and then drive over to our beach area. You will need your own vehicle to get to the beach. Dress to be outdoors, wear old shoes that can get wet or muddy, and bring binoculars if you have them. All ages welcome to come to the beach, must be at least 10 years old to seine in the water.
