EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — Late Friday afternoon, Grammy-winning artists Kendrick Lamar and SZA made an appearance at American Dream ahead of their concert Friday night at MetLife stadium.
SZA got to the mall at 4 p.m. and Lamar showed up closer to 5. The two rappers spoke to the crowd at center court, signed autographs and took selfies with fans.
SZA was at the mall promoting her new lipstick, NOT Beauty, which was sold inside the mall at a two-day pop-up shop, now closed.

Many celebs have checked out American Dream mega-mall: Last June, Kim Kardashian hosted her daughter North's 11th birthday party at the indoor amusement park (Kardashian called it "the coolest mall ever"). That day, Kardashian and her family were in the mall in the late afternoon, while the mall was open to the general public. They went into It’s Sugar candy store and Nickelodeon amusement park while guests were there. Then, she and her family went to the indoor waterpark, which the mall kept open for additional hours for her while it was closed to public.
Kim K. is hardly the only celeb to frequent the Dream: Cardi B and her estranged husband and rapper, Offset, held their son Wave's 3rd birthday at the indoor water park later that same year, in September. In late March of this year, the Jonas Brothers gave a free concert in the mall's center court (Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas grew up in Wyckoff and Little Falls) and in April, Tom Brady signed autographs at the Card Vault trading card store inside the mall. Boxer/influencer Jake Paul also appeared at American Dream in April.
