New Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care Now Open On Rt. 3

CLIFTON, NJ — The Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center on Rt. 3 east in Clifton is now open.

This is the former Hoffmann-La Roche pharmaceutical site, now called ON3, where the Starbucks just opened this past winter. Quest Diagnostics, plus Seton Hall University's nursing school and the Ralph Lauren Corporation all plan to open there in the future, according to the ON3 website. There are also plans to build a hotel there.

The developer of the ON3 site, Prism Capital Partners, has been feuding with the town of Nutley over additional development at the site, specifically over whether or not Prism has town approval to build a warehouse there. (Nutley, Developer Continue Shoving Match Over 'ON3' Complex, January 2025)

The Hackensack facility opened its doors last week. It is an urgent care center, but the medical office also offers:

• Rheumatology
• Gastroenterology
• Nephrology (kidney treatment)
• Orthopedics
• Occupational health services through Hackensack Meridian Works
• Early cancer detection and risk assessment services from the Hennessy Institute for Cancer Prevention & Applied Molecular Medicine

In the coming months, that location will offer advanced imaging, cardiology and also plans to open a retail pharmacy on site. Hackensack Meridian CEO Robert Garrett said the hospital giant wants to "meet patients where they are," and their new urgent care is located on one of the most highly-traveled roads in the state.

Hackensack Meridian also built a medical school in that same complex off Rt. 3 east in Clifton (1 Metro Boulevard) — called the Hackensack School of Medicine — and something called the Hackensack Meridian Health Research Institute is located there as well.

Neither of those are open yet.

Hackensack Meridian now has a total of four "Health & Wellness Centers" across New Jersey. All are urgent care centers/doctors' offices located in highly-trafficked suburban areas. The four locations are:

• Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Clifton – 1 Metro Blvd., Clifton
• Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Paramus – 650 From Road, Paramus
• Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Clark – 1180 Raritan Road, Clark
• Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Eatontown – 135 Rt. 35, Eatontown

They plan to open a fifth at MetroPark train station in Woodbridge this fall.
