JERSEY CITY, NJ — That nip in the air. The wind blowing off New York Harbor. The crunch of fall leaves underfoot. November is a chilly, but beautiful time to get outside. Here are free offerings for adults, kids and families, from the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection:

Friday, November 7 11:00 a.m. - noon Fall Leaves Walk

As the weather starts to cool and the leaves begin to change colors, it’s a perfect time to come explore the beauty of fall at Liberty State Park. Join our Park Naturalist on this guided walk and learn how to identify some of our trees by their fall colors. Please dress to be outdoors. We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. All ages welcome.

Saturday, November 8 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Sensational Sea Glass

Ever walk along the beach and come across those smooth, colorful pieces of glass and wonder how they can be put to use? This workshop will show you how to find and make art with sea glass! Please dress to be outdoors and wear shoes that can get wet/muddy for walking on the beach. We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. Recommended for ages 8 & up.

Saturday, November 15 10:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. Everlasting Autumn Wreaths Workshop

In this hands-on workshop, we will use natural materials found in Liberty State Park to create ornamental wreaths. Once dried, these beautiful handmade wreaths can last forever. Decorate your home or give them as gifts! All materials will be provided. We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. Program will begin promptly at 10:00 AM and space is limited! Recommended for ages 10 & up.

Sunday, November 16 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Natural Area Volunteer Shoreline Cleanup

Looking for volunteer opportunities in Liberty State Park? Come help lend a hand cleaning up the shores of the Richard J. Sullivan Natura Area by removing trash that has come in with the tides. We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. Please dress to be outdoors, wear shoes that can get wet/muddy, and bring work gloves if you have them. Recommended for ages 6 & up.

Saturday, November 22 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Nature's Canvas

Bring your creative skills to Liberty State Park and get up close and personal with some of nature’s most captivating creations. Express your natural side as we learn about these creations and make a seasonal work of art to take home with you! We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. All ages welcome. This program is co-sponsored by the Educational Arts Team at Camp Liberty.

Sunday, November 23 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Storytime and Craft

Come on out to the Nature Center to hear a story about the different kinds of wildlife and habitats found in Liberty State Park, and then make a story-related craft to take home with you. We will meet at the Nature Center located at 275 Freedom Way. All ages welcome.

Pre-registration is required for all programs unless specified. Space is limited. You may register a maximum of six participants per reservation. Pets are not permitted on programs unless they are service animals. SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
