Patriots run well at North Hudson Championships
Varsity boys XC squad places 2nd and team collected 9 individual race medals
Not only is it peak time for the autumn foliage, but it is also the peak time for cross country performances. The Secaucus High School cross country team seems quite ready for the post seaon challenge after posting excellent race times at the Annual North Hudson Cross Country Championship. The meet was held at Stephen R. Gregg Park in Bayonne. Schools in attendance were Hoboken, Memorial, North Bergen, Secaucus, Union City, and Weehawken.
In the varsity boys race, the Patriots placed five runners in the top ten in a tightly contested battle with Tigers of Memorial High School. While SHS came up on the short side of the 24-32 score, Coach Stan Fryczynski was extremely proud of the team for quality race times and confidence displayed in this meet.
Dominic Vargas placed 3rd (17:40.4), Kyrolos Awad was 5th (17:47.3), Josh Torres 7th (18:12.4), Max Donaldson-George (18:13.5) and Yash Schanandani finished 9th (18:24.6). Coach Fryczynski was quite excited to see the 12th place / 18:49 performance from Yonden Sherpa and 18th place / 19:20.9 run from sophomore Pratham Mulani.

In the junior varsity race, Jowell Hernandez cross the line in 20:23.8 and good for an 8th place medal. Kevin DeLos Santos also grabbed an individual medal when he placed 10th in 20:33.7. Mathew Dalton was 13th, Collin Hawxhurst placed 14th, and Kush Patel 17th. It was a strong race by the Patriots in the field of 47 runners.
Senior Jasmine Tsang ran a personal best 5k race when she placed 12th in 23:22.1. in the varsity girls division.

The team returns to Bayonne next week for the Hudson County Championship Meet.
