Secaucus HS cross country team shines at the "Back to the Mountain" Invitational

Patriot boys varsity take team bronze while the J.V. team grabs the gold!

It was a good day at Garret Mountain for the Secaucus High School cross country team. The varsity boys squad captured team bronze, and the junior varsity team ran for team gold at the “Back to the Mountain Invitational.”

Dominic Vargas was the top runner for the Patriots with his 15th place effort and 18:34 performance in the 5k varsity boy’s race. Tight pack running of Kyrolos Awad (21st), Josh Torres (22nd), Yash Sachanandani (26th), and Yonden Sherpa (37th) were highly responsible for Secaucus placing 3rd out of 20 schools and 123 runners.

Andre DeLos Santos placed 2nd with a time of 21:32 to lead the Secaucus squad to a first place JV team finish. Again, it was tight pack running from Matt Dalton (5th) Pratham Mulani (16th), Kush Patel (19th) and Collin Hawxhurst (20th) that secured the gold for the Patriots. Oliver Buenafe (24th), and Jude Amato (39th) did an excellent job in their role as “displace runners” in the field of 100 runners.
