Photos From Secaucus Police Stair Climb Up Harmon Cove Towers
Secaucus Police held their first-ever climb of all 25 flights of stairs at Harmon Cove Towers. Here's who climbed the fastest, and photos:
SECAUCUS, NJ — This past Saturday, the Secaucus Police Department held their first-ever stair climb of Harmon Cove Towers.
Held in conjunction with the New Jersey Law Enforcement Torch Run, this was a challenge for participants to walk (or run, as some chose) up all 25 floors of Harmon Cove Towers.
Approximately 40 people participated, and more came out to show support; the climb started at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 8.

It was a thrilling event and not only did Secaucus Police participate, but so did Secaucus volunteer firefighters (some in their full gear!). Members of the public also participated, and even some children took part in the challenge.
Not only that, but the entire thing was to raise money for NJ Special Olympics: The climb raised about $7,000, bringing the total Secaucus Police raised for Special Olympics to more than $13,000 so far this year. You can continue to donate here: https://support.sonj.org/event...

Secaucus Police plan to do this again next year, and make it an annual event.
"Plenty of people did around five stories, including a woman in her eighties and my daughter, who is five," said Secaucus Police Lt. Chris Rinaldi. (His 4-year-old son was the youngest to complete the whole climb.)
"We had people do one flight and people who asked if they could climb down the stairs instead. It's all for fun and charity so we're happy to work with everyone and we want to keep everyone safe and healthy!"
Here are some results from Saturday's tower climb:
- Men’s fastest time: Stephen Marsalese climbed all 25 flights of stairs in an incredible 2 minutes, 12 seconds. I am going to repeat that: He climbed up all 25 flights of stairs at Harmon Cove towers in 2 minutes and 12 seconds.
(Marsalese is neither a Secaucus resident nor a police officer; he is a Bronx resident who just read online about the climb, and decided to participate. Eyewitnesses say it a sight to behold: Marsalese climbed a floor every 5.28 seconds.)
- Women’s fastest time: Secaucus volunteer firefighter Bailey Fearon - climbed all 25 flights of stairs in 3 minutes, 36 seconds.
- Kid’s fastest time: Hannah Lagman, 8 years old – climbed all 25 flights of stairs in 4 minutes, 46 seconds.
- Fastest Secaucus Police Officer: Austin Hawxhurst – 2 minutes, 22 seconds. He also completed the climb ten times over the three-hour event, for most flights climbed at 250.
- Fastest Secaucus firefighter: Tied! Devon Postel & Bailey Fearon – 3 minutes, 36 seconds
- Fastest Secaucus firefighter in full gear: Devon Postel – 4 minutes, 26 seconds
