Secaucus High School Boys Cross Country Team Capture NJIC Meadowlands Divsion Championship
Patriots finish as undefeated 8-0 champions; have solid gold performance at Championship race!
The Secaucus Boys Cross Country team are the 2025 NJIC Meadowlands Division champions! The Patriots capped an 8-0 undefeated dual meet season and then held off challenges from Park Ridge and New Milford to take the team gold at the Divisional Championship Meet held at Garret Mountain on Tuesday, October 7th.
Senior Dominic Vargas has a spectacular race, finishing 2nd in 18:05. He was involved in a hard-fought race from start to finish before finishing behind individual winner Matthew VanderBeek from Pompton Lakes. Next Patriot across the finish was Kyrolos Awad in 8th place (18:47) and quickly followed by teammate Josh Torres in 9th (18:58). Both were awarded “Top 10” individual championship medals.
Max Donaldson-George was 11th for Secaucus in 19:10. Yash Sachanandani (14th /19:35) and Yonden Sherpa (15th / 20:07) sealed the championship for the Patriots.

In the girls’ varsity race, Secaucus had two top finishers. First year runner and senior Jasmine Tsang had an impressive bronze medal effort for 3rd place in a time of 24:02. Teammate Elaine Zhang was 12th in 26:16.
The Patriots travel to Thompson Park in Jamesburg on Saturday October 11th to participate in the highly competitive “Fall XC Classic.”
