Secaucus Housing Authority Director Placed On Paid Leave

Chris Marra was placed on a paid leave by the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners at their Aug. 19 meeting.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Christopher Marra, the executive director of the Secaucus Housing Authority, is currently on a paid leave.

Marra was placed on a paid leave by the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners at their Aug. 19 meeting.

This was confirmed Monday by Mayor Michael Gonnelli.

Gonnelli said he cannot say why Marra was placed on paid leave, and the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners have not publicly said why.

Marra's salary is paid in taxpayer dollars by the town of Secaucus. According to these 2018 records from the housing authority, his salary is $104,650 per year.

The town of Secaucus runs the Secaucus Housing Authority, which is funded in local taxpayer dollars and also funded by the federal U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).

Michael Harper, a Secaucus resident who also works for the county, is currently chair of the Housing Authority in the interim.
