Secaucus HS boys cross country team places 3rd at Van Cortlandt Park

Patriots open the 2005 season with impressive performances

The Secaucus High Schoolboys cross country team opened the 2025 season in impressive form. The Patriots placed 3rd in the team standings at the Annual CHSAA Development Meet. The competition took place at the historic VanCortlandt Park 2.5 mile course in the Bronx, New York.

Senior Dominic Vargas was lead man in with a 6th place individual finish (15:11.2). He was closely followed by teammates Max Donaldson-George (8th / 15:24.8) and Kyrolos Awad (9th / 15:30.1). The Patriots continued their solid outing with three additional runners in the "top 20" with Yash Sachanandani (16th), Josh Torres (17th), and Yonden Sherpa (19th). Sophomore Matt Dalton finished the scoring for Secaucus when he came in 42nd place .

"It is an outstanding opening meet for us,"said Coach Stan Fryczynski. "It is my hope that we will be able to build some real momentum off of this meet"

Some other noteworthy perfomances came from three team members running in their first high school cross country races! Reynash Sharma (25th place / Freshman boys), Jade Tsang (15th / Freshman girls), and Jasmin Tsang who was 26th out of 160 runners in the varsity girls race.
