Someone Is Stealing Vegetables From 2 Secaucus Community Gardens
Thefts are reported at Imagine Garden and Fountain Park. "They think they know who it might be, and somebody is taking them after dark."
SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli said this week the town will increase park patrols, after someone has been stealing vegetables from two garden plots in town.
Suzanne Barnes, who works for the town park patrol, said first, multiple people told her eggplants and tomatoes were stolen from their garden patches at the Imagine Garden off Meadowlands Parkway. They were very upset, she said.
All the thefts happened in August.

She first posted about this on Facebook. But after she posted that, Barnes said other people reported vegetables were stolen from Fountain Park on Humboldt Street, another community garden patch.
"It was mainly tomatoes stolen, but the man who approached me at Fountain said his eggplant was taken," she told Patch.

"I asked if it could be an animal (and) he said it was a clean-angled cut at the vine so it could not have been," she wrote on Facebook. "He also said other people at the garden had their tomatoes stolen. They think they know who it might be, and somebody is taking them after dark."
"We just want people to be able to enjoy the vegetables from the space they rented that they worked hard to grow," she said.
