Franklin Police Report: $4,053 Retail Scam, $2,500 Online Vehicle Fraud, Suspicious Route 27 Fire Investigated (tapinto.net) — Franklin Township police in Somerset are investigating a string of recent crimes, from suspicious fire damage at a Route 27 business to multiple vehicle break-ins and online fraud cases. Several Somerset residents reported shattered windows, attempted thefts, cyber harassment, and scams involving thousands of dollars, while officers also handled shoplifting and a significant $4,053 retail deception scheme.
   

3. Raritan Valley Symphonic Band Winter Concert Rescheduled for Dec.17 (tapinto.net) — A free holiday concert is happening in Somerset tomorrow night, as the Raritan Valley Symphonic Band’s rescheduled Winter performance takes over Franklin High School at 7 p.m. Residents can enjoy classic wind ensemble works and familiar seasonal favorites, including Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and “A Christmas Festival,” supported in part by the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
   

4. Somerset County Awards $1.1M in Grants to Four Historic Properties (magic983.com) — Somerset County has awarded more than $1.1 million to four historic sites, including the Franklin Inn in the Somerset section of Franklin Township, for preservation and upgrades. Funded through the county’s Historic Preservation Grant Program and trust fund, these grants support accessibility, safety, and long-term restoration work so residents can continue visiting and enjoying local historic houses, programs, and community events.
