3 Dead In Crashes, Wildfire Torches Forest, Wayward Cow Caught: NJ Weekend

NJ Forest Fire Burns 1,200 Acres
A wildfire that broke out in Cumberland County on Friday reached 1,200 acres by Saturday afternoon, but fire crews had made significant progress containing the blaze, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said.

Danny's Wildfire was first reported Friday afternoon when it started in a remote part of the Peaslee Wildlife Management Area in Vineland. Two hours later, the blaze had burned through 500 acres, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

Wayward Cow Captured In South Jersey
A cow, who apparently went looking for greener pastures found her way to a swimming pool store in South Jersey town on Saturday, leaving police seeking help to round her up and get her to safety.
Logan Township police shared a photo of the cow on Facebook, after she had been found in the area of U.S. Route 322 near the Woolwich Township border around 9:30 a.m., outside a Leslie's Pool store.

Motorcyclist Killed In Route 37 Crash
A Brick Township man was killed Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle and a car crashed at the intersection of Route 37 and Colonial Drive, Manchester police said.
William C. Swiderski, 24, was thrown more than 140 feet as a result of the impact to the eastbound shoulder of Route 37, Manchester Capt. Albert Vega said. He was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where he succumbed to his injuries.

NJ Man Killed In ATV Crash
A 28-year-old Toms River man, Brandon Orozco-Avila, died Saturday evening after the ATV he was riding struck a tree in a wooded area of Jackson Township, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 6:18 p.m. in a remote trail section of the Clayton Pits, located behind the Pine Barrens Golf Course near South Hope Chapel Road, according to Jackson Police Lt. Fred Meabe. Orozco-Avila was pronounced dead at the scene.

Man Struck & Killed By Hudson-Bergen Light Rail
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train in Jersey City on Easter morning, a transit spokesperson said.
The man was struck after 6:30 a.m. near the Richard Street stop, said a spokesperson for NJ Transit.
