4-Year-Old Drowns In Pond Near Home In Monroe: Prosecutor

The family reported the child missing, before police found the 4-year-old drowned in the pond, authorities said.

MONROE, NJ — A 4-year-old drowned in a pond near their family home in Monroe on Tuesday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Griffin M. Banos of the Monroe Township Police said.

On Tuesday, around 6:48 p.m., Monroe Police received a 911 call reporting that a child was missing.

When authorities arrived on scene they began a search for the 4-year-old. The child was found in a pond 50 yards from the back deck of the family’s home and wasn’t breathing, Ciccone said.

Authorities performed CPR on the child and took the child to Princeton Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.

"Our hearts are heavy with sorrow as we mourn this tragic loss. We extend our deepest condolences to the family during this incredibly difficult time,” Ciccone and Banos said in a statement.
