A Century Of Life: Township Honors South Brunswick Resident On 100th Birthday
Born in 1925, Shen Silvey has lived through an entire century of American history

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A South Brunswick resident recently celebrated her 100th birthday, and the Township was there to honor and celebrate this remarkable milestone.
Longtime South Brunswick resident Shen Silvey turned 100 years old.
Family and township officials came together on Tuesday to recognize Silvey’s century of life, love, and contributions to the community.

To mark the occasion, the South Brunswick Office on Aging helped make the day festive with special touches.
The Township first learned of Silvey’s milestone thanks to Charlie “Bud” Reeves from Republic Services, who shared the news of her upcoming 100th birthday.

His thoughtful notice helped ensure the Township could celebrate this special occasion in a meaningful way.
A daughter of 1925, Silvey has lived through an entire century of American history while remaining a cherished member of the South Brunswick community. Throughout her long life, she has nurtured her family, cultivated lasting friendships, and served as a source of wisdom and inspiration to countless neighbors and friends.
“Reaching 100 years old is a truly extraordinary accomplishment,” Mayor Charlie Carley said. “We are honored to celebrate Mrs. Silvey’s life and to recognize the impact she has had on our community and beyond.”
Dawn Neglia, Director of the South Brunswick Office on Aging, reflected on the celebration's significance. “This is such a wonderful milestone, and we were honored to share in the celebration,” Neglia said. “Recognizing our residents and bringing joy to these special moments is at the heart of what we do."
