Creative Care Giving Festival Coming to South Brunswick

Discover ways to reduce the impact of stress, interventions for reducing burnout and improving moods, build emotional support, and more.

By Jacque Rubel

Creative Expression as a catalyst for quality of life supports the notion that as a society, we are in need of healing, a process that has been described as "putting back into one's life what is missing."

The “Creative Care Giving for Healthy Living – Ideas Festival” is designed to do just that. Encompassing a wide range of non-threatening, enjoyable activities, hands on workshops in a wide variety of different arts disciplines will introduce family and volunteer care givers and care workers, to “creative expressions.”

By integrating creative expressions into conventional whole person healthcare, care givers, regardless of prior arts experience, will discover ways to reduce the impact of stress, interventions for reducing burnout and improving moods, build emotional support, and facilitate the journey beyond one of life's greatest challenges.  According to medical research, "wellness can best be achieved by inspiring, motivating and enabling individuals to take an active and meaningful role in their own health and well-being. While exercise and nutritional strategies abound, few meaningful effective choices are available in the realm of stress-reduction for improving quality of life."

Precisely why the Aging in Place PARTNERSHIP (AIPP) leadership is striving to provide families facing the challenges of care giving, the resources that can encourage self-respect, responsibility, and a vision for a brighter future. Please join us on Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center, Municipal Complex on Route 522. The program and lunches are free with pre registration before Oct. 15.
