Deadline Looms For Property Tax Relief Programs Open to South Brunswick Residents, Says Mayor

In a letter to the community, Carley encouraged all eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick residents have a crucial deadline approaching to claim significant property tax savings through two major state relief programs, Mayor Charlie Carley said.

In a letter to township residents, Carely said that New Jersey homeowners and renters can access substantial financial relief through the ANCHOR and StayNJ programs, but they must act before the Oct. 31 deadline.

The StayNJ program offers unprecedented savings for senior homeowners, allowing those 65 years and older to cut their property taxes in half—potentially saving up to $6,500 annually. The historic initiative aims to help seniors remain in the homes and communities where they've built their lives.

Meanwhile, the ANCHOR program provides direct property tax relief to a broader range of residents. Homeowners under 65 may qualify for up to $1,450 in relief, while renters of all ages can receive up to $700 back.

"Together, these programs represent the largest property tax relief effort in our state's history," Mayor Carley emphasized. "But to receive these savings, you must apply."

The application process is straightforward. Residents can apply online at www.nj.gov/treasury/taxation or call 1-888-238-1233 for assistance. Those needing help completing their applications can reach out to South Brunswick's state representatives: Senator Andrew Zwicker, Assemblyman Roy Freiman, or Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis.

Carley encouraged all eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that while the town works daily to keep taxes stable and services strong, these state programs offer a chance to put money back in residents' pockets.
