Fire Prevention Week Brings Pancake Breakfasts & Open Houses To South Brunswick
This year, Fire Prevention Week is from Oct. 5–11

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The township’s three volunteer fire departments will each be hosting events at their respective fire stations in celebration of National Fire Prevention Week.
On Sunday, Oct. 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Kingston Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting a pancake breakfast at their fire station at 8 Heathcote in Kingston. Meet and interact with firefighters as they prepare an all-you-can-eat breakfast.
On the same day, the Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department will be holding an open house at their fire station at 573 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s open house will include fire safety displays, equipment demonstrations, inflatable games for kids and food & drinks.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company will be holding an open house at their fire station at 125 New Road in Kendall Park. The event will include food, firefighting demos, and games for kids to learn fire safety.
This year, Fire Prevention Week is from Oct. 5–11, and the theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety.” it focuses on the safe use of battery-powered devices and the growing need to understand fire risks in technology-filled lives.

Fire Prevention Week has been observed since 1922, and in 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Week a national observance.
Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of Oct. 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire of Oct. 8, 1871, which killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless and destroyed more than 17,400 structures.
