Free Mammograms in South Brunswick Sept. 28

On Sept. 28, Indian Health Camp of New Jersey (IHCNJ) will be organizing free breast screening to include diagnostic digital mammogram for women above the age of 40 without medical insurance.   

Indian Health Camp of New Jersey, a non-profit organization under tax exempt code 501© (3), will hold this event for the first time as part of their mission of early cancer detection and intervention to reduce complications and save lives.      

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.  While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.  

There has been a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need south Asian community help to spread the word and make awareness to women for early screening and detection for better outcome. The sooner a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer the more likely she is to beat it.  

In recent years, diagnostic tools and treatments have improved and powerful new drugs have been introduced that increase a woman’s chance of a long productive life. In fact, the American Cancer Society reports that breast cancer death rates have decreased every year since 1990.  

Garden State Magnetic Imaging at 1245 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road in Hamilton, NJ will provide this service under New Jersey State Cancer Education and Early Detection program NJ CEED program.  Garden State Magnetic Imaging, Senior Marketing Manager, Nash Khan is very enthusiastic to provide this service for the needy people in south Asian community at her center in Hamilton.
