Healthy Holiday Cooking, Tricky Tray Auction Highlight South Brunswick Weekend

Adult Chess and Checkers, South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction, 2 p.m.
SBPL is starting a Chess Club for Adults in the Grover's Mill Cafe in the library. Come to the library every Friday afternoon to play chess or checkers with other interested players. The event is free; chess and checker sets will be available. No registration necessary.

NBWC Annual Craft-Vendor Show & Tricky Tray, 1740 Route 130 North (OLOP Parish Center), North Brunswick, 9 a.m.
Join the community in shopping for unique holiday gifts sold by over 75 crafters and vendors at annual fair. Find towel cakes, nightlights, jewelry, fashion accessories made with unusual materials, handbags, and so much more. The kitchen is selling a limited lunch menu and coffee and desserts are always abundant. This year's Tricky Tray has over 40 items, which include items such as a TV, a Florida vacation, theatre tickets, themed baskets, Disney Park Passes, and retail gift certificates. Raffle tickets will be called around 1:30 p.m. and you must be present to win. Admission is free.
Healthy Holiday Cooking, 57 Sand Hills Rd., Kendall Park, 10 a.m.
Chef Allison O'Brien will give a presentation/cooking demo entitled "Healthy Holiday Cooking." When the holidays arrive, extra calories are a constant and popular concern. In this workshop, you will learn how to take traditional dishes and tweak the ingredients to make them healthier, discuss meal planning to choose the right dishes for your family, and receive coveted health supportive dessert recipes with samples (of course) to show you that even dessert can be both delicious and nutritious.

The Wildlife at Plainsboro Preserve, Plainsboro Preserve, 80 Scotts Corner Road, Cranbury, 3:30 p.m.
The Plainsboro Preserve is home to a diversity of wildlife species, including white-tailed deer, red fox, and beaver. Put on your detective hats and search for animal homes, tracks, and signs during this outside investigation.

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church presents an evening of world flare and fun. A DJ will provide a lively beat while you gather to enjoy the flavorful diversity of dishes and desserts. Then participate in the Tricky Tray with close to 50 pieces and a live auction that follows with over 20 exciting items. Advance tickets are $20-adults, $15-Seniors and youth, under 8 free; and $25 at the door. Proceeds are used to help the ministries of St. Barnabas, including the South Brunswick Food Bank, Trenton Rescue and Nets for Life (R).
