Johnny Appleseed Day, Traffic and Weather in South Brunswick

Goings on for Thursday in South Brunswick.

It's a great day to head to the farm and do some apple picking, or just munch down on your favorite apple treats as part of Johnny Appleseed Day.

Johnny Appleseed Day celebrates John Chapman, who was born on this day in 1774 and was an American settler who travelled west planting and selling apple trees to settlers, according to Holiday Insights. The legend of Johnny Appleseed grew over time, and his birthday happens to coincide with the fall apple harvest, so double bonus.

Here's what you need to know on Thursday.

1. Today's forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of 71 degrees before dropping to the low 50's overnight.

2. Celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day by heading over to Von Thun's Country Farm Market at 519 Ridge Road (Route 522) in Monmouth Junction. Click here to visit their web site. For additional apple picking options in the area click here.
