Woman Critical After Son Beats Her With Cane
A Manchester Township man has been charged after beating his 71-year-old mother with a cane, leaving her critically injured, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said Saturday.

Joseph Cavallaro, 44, has been charged in the attack that happened Friday, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. Manchester police were called to a home in Pine Acres Manor mobile home park about 12:15 p.m. for a report of a woman in distress and found the victim with apparent injuries to her face and body, authorities said.

2 Women Killed, ‘Hero’ Neighbor Rescues Girl In House Fire
A house fire in Hamilton claimed the lives of two women early Thursday morning, while a heroic neighbor's quick actions saved a young girl from the burning building, authorities said.
Emergency crews rushed to a 2½-story home on the 200 block of Lynwood Avenue at approximately 6:07 a.m. after reports of a fire. When police and firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a juvenile who had been helped to safety by a neighbor who assisted her escape through a second-floor window.

Man Critically Injured In Hit-&-Run
A man was critically injured following a hit-and-run in Lake Hopatcong on Saturday night, according to police.
At around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jefferson Township Police responded to a hit-and-run on Brady Road in Lake Hopatcong, where they found a man and woman who had been hit by a car.
The man, 43, was left with “serious injuries” and was brought to the Morristown Hospital for treatment. The woman, 42, sustained minor injuries and was treated by emergency personnel on the scene, according to officials.

Landscaper Critical After Being Impaled By Tree Branch In Summit
A landscaper is in critical condition after he was impaled by a tree branch on Friday evening in Summit, news reports said.
The man fell while trimming trees, and a branch pierced his neck, reported News12. He remains hospitalized.
Man Shot & Killed In Atlantic City
A 40-year-old Atlantic City man was found shot to death outside an apartment complex Thursday evening, authorities said.
Atlantic City Police responded to a 911 call at around 8:53 p.m. on Thursday, reporting a man lying on the sidewalk outside the Shore Park apartments at 225 N. Virginia Avenue.
Officers found Robert Stanley Davis, 40, unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
An autopsy performed by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Davis died from a gunshot wound, and the death has been ruled a homicide, authorities said.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit are jointly investigating the case.
