NJDOT To Evaluate Shoulder Lane Access On Rt. 1 South Brunswick

The pilot activation will begin in late August.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Construction is underway along the Route 1 corridor in South Brunswick, preparing the road to accommodate a Hard Shoulder Running (HSR) lane.

The purpose of the project is to improve the flow of traffic by utilizing the right shoulder as a travel lane on weekdays during rush hour.

The New Jersey Department Of Transportation will be evaluating and comparing before and after conditions. This HSR pilot activation will begin in late August.

The project limits extend nearly five miles from County Route 522 to Aaron Road to provide three travel lanes in each direction.
