County Sheriff's Officer Falls From Building

A Hudson County sheriff's officer died after falling from a county building on Friday, authorities said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said that shortly before 9:30 a.m., law enforcement was notified of an injured sheriff’s officer at the Hudson County Administration Building, at 595 Newark Ave. He was found outside the building.

Man Beat Neighbors With Pipe Before Police Standoff

A man broke into his neighbor's home and beat two people with a metal pipe before barricading himself and getting arrested by the SWAT team Saturday in Gloucester County, officials said.

Shawn Huntsinger, 53, was arrested after a standoff that brought a large number of officers to his Franklinville home, including the Gloucester County SWAT Team, authorities said.

Cops Save Toddler From Luggage Conveyor Belt At Airport

A 2-year-old was rescued at Newark Liberty International Airport after climbing onto a luggage belt that was carrying the child toward security screening equipment, Port Authority Police said over the weekend.

Port Authority police stationed at Terminal A responded to the emergency call at 6:28 p.m. on Wednesday. The toddler’s mother was at the ticketing counter, according to media reports.

The cops entered the conveyor system and, after about four minutes, located the child who was headed for an x-ray machine, police said.

Child Shoots 12-Year-Old With Gun

A 12-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the arm early Friday when an 8-year-old relative accidentally fired a handgun found inside their Jersey City home.

The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital by their mother for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury. Investigators examined a car outside the medical facility and conducted a search of the family's apartment for the firearm.

Blaze Displaces 2 Families In Jersey City

A rapidly spreading blaze gutted the upper level of a two-story residence on Bergen Avenue in Jersey City Sunday night, according to media reports.

The fire created hazardous conditions when flames caused power lines to fall, forcing firefighters to pull back from the structure, ABC7 said.

Officials reported no casualties from the incident.
