Painter Stole Jewelry Worth $30K While Working In Middlesex Co. Home, Police Say

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — An East Windsor man was charged with third-degree theft after a polygraph test uncovered he had taken jewelry from a home where he was working as a painter, Monroe Police said Wednesday.

Kevin Munoz Reardon of East Windsor was identified as the suspect following an investigation by Monroe Police and the New Jersey State Police Polygraph Unit.

According to police, Munoz Reardon returned most of the stolen jewelry after failing a polygraph test.

On Feb. 21, a homeowner reported that several high-value jewelry pieces were missing from their bedroom during home renovations.

While multiple workers had access to the home, the investigation ultimately focused on Munoz Reardon following polygraph tests conducted by state troopers. He was later charged by Monroe Police.

Monroe Township Police Chief Griffin Banos used the incident to remind residents about the importance of thoroughly vetting workers who enter their homes.

"As Chief of Police, I urge everyone to be cautious and diligent when allowing workers in your home. Always verify credentials, check reviews or references, and ensure they are from a reputable company," Banos said.

"It's about safeguarding your family and your peace of mind. A few extra minutes of vetting can prevent serious risks down the line."
