The voter registration deadline is creeping closer. Here's what to know if you plan to vote in South Brunswick for the 2024 election.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The 2024 general election is just around the corner. While the presidential matchup between Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, and their third-party/independent challengers continues to draw the most attention, there are elections at the local level as well, including a competitive Council and school board races.

KEY DATES

  • Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5
  • Early voting: Oct. 26-Nov. 3; Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Deadline for in-person applications for a mail-in ballot: Nov. 4 by 3 p.m.

Jo Hochman, Archana “Ann” Grover, and Patricia Germain are running on the Democratic ticket for Council.

The Republican candidates for Council are Michael J Havardansky, Brian Wojaczyk and Steven R. Simon.

Meanwhile, five candidates are seeking three seats on the South Brunswick Board of Education - Deepa Karthik, Barry Nathanson, Sujata Rai, Rajesh Soni and Lisa Rodgers.

3 WAYS TO VOTE

There are three ways to vote in the 2024 general election in New Jersey. Here’s what options are available:

Vote By Mail – The last day to apply by mail for a vote-by-mail ballot is Oct. 29. Applications can be downloaded here. Or, you can visit the County Clerk’s In New Brunswick office in person, to fill out an application and pick up a ballot. If you are using the U.S. Postal Service, the ballot must be postmarked on or before Nov. 5 and received by the Board of Elections by Nov. 11 to be considered valid and to be counted. If you are using one of the county’s “secure mail drop boxes,” the deadline for delivering your ballot is 8 p.m. on Nov. 5. If you are delivering your ballot in-person, you can deliver your completed ballot to the Board of Elections Office up until 8 p.m. on Nov. 5 . Voters can confirm that their ballot was received here.

Early Voting – Early in-person voting for 2024 general election will take place from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3. Voting hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For a list of early voting locations, click here.

Election Day – Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, which takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Find your local polling locations here.
