South Brunswick Activates Long-Awaited Traffic Light At Busy Intersection

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A new traffic signal at the intersection of Finnegans Lane and Kory Drive has been completed and activated, officials announced. This marks a significant infrastructure upgrade designed to improve safety and reduce congestion at the busy crossroads.

The long-awaited project addresses concerns raised by residents and findings from the Middlesex County Office of the County Engineer regarding increased vehicle volume on Finnegans Lane, a key connector between US Route 1 and NJ Route 27.

The new signal incorporates modern safety technology, including vehicle detection systems, pedestrian countdown timers, and highly-visible LED lighting to ensure safe and efficient traffic movement for all users.

"The safety of our residents is our absolute highest priority," said South Brunswick Mayor Charlie Carley. "This intersection has been a point of concern for many in our community, and I am proud that our administration, working under the leadership of Middlesex County government and with North Brunswick Township, has delivered a solution."

Carley emphasized that the signal represents a direct investment in community well-being, benefiting both daily commuters and families in surrounding neighborhoods.

The project required extensive planning, engineering studies, and coordination between multiple government entities to minimize construction disruption. Officials worked to balance the need for improved traffic management with the township's ongoing growth.

"Getting a project like this from concept to completion requires dedication and collaboration," Carley noted. "I want to thank Middlesex County for their diligent oversight of the project. This is a prime example of our ongoing commitment to proactively managing growth and investing in the infrastructure that keeps our region moving safely and efficiently."

The traffic signal is now fully operational, and motorists are advised to exercise caution as drivers adapt to the new traffic pattern at the intersection.
