SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Town Council recently adopted an ordinance aimed at selling a property on Ridge Road.

The Township has acquired the property at 784 Ridge Road with the intention of renovating and restoring the structure in a historically accurate manner and creating a public space for use by non-profit organizations.

However, “despite diligent inquiry by the Township,” local non-profit organizations were not willing or able to use the Property. As such it has remained vacant and not utilized.

According to the ordinance, “leaving the structure vacant and unused will be detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of the community since it could lead to damage by vandalism, trespassers, and further deterioration of the structure.”

The minimum sale price for the sale of the property was set at $300,000. The Township had previously received one bid of $400,000, which they had rejected.
