South Brunswick To Honor Local Veteran Robert E. Spahr On Saturday

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – On Saturday, South Brunswick will honor another local veteran with a street sign dedication ceremony.

The township will honor Veteran Robert E. Spahr at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Ridge Road and Green Ridge Lane in Monmouth Junction.

This event is part of the Township’s dedication series, recognizing local veterans for their military service, in the Spring and Fall. Spahr enlisted into the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War on August 14, 1963.

He attended Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia where he was assigned the position of Military Cook, achieving the Rank of Private.

Known as “Butch”, he was a lifetime volunteer with the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad and the Monmouth Junction Fire Department. Spahr served until his Honorable Discharge on Feb. 4, 1969 with outstanding leadership and courage receiving the SS Rifle Badge.
