South Brunswick To Honor Local Veterans With Street Sign Dedications This Fall

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick Township will continue its tradition of honoring local military heroes this fall, dedicating street signs to six wartime veterans who served their country with distinction.

The Veterans Recognition Street Naming Initiative adds secondary street signs bearing veterans' names to existing municipal roads, creating lasting tributes that promote public awareness of these individuals' service and sacrifice.

The program specifically honors wartime veterans who served honorably in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Fall 2025 Dedication Schedule

The township has scheduled five dedication ceremonies, each beginning at 11:00 AM:

September 6 - Alex and Alexander John Kish

• Georges Road and Stanley Avenue

September 20 - Philip Joseph O'Brien

• Cambridge Road and Palmer Road

October 4 - Louis E. Pietrefesa

• Georges Road and Sarah Court

October 18 - Charles G. Weber Sr.

• Ridge Road and Welcome Farms Road

November 8 - Lt. John W. Farnkopf

• Major Road and Northumberland Way

To qualify for this honor, veterans must have been honorably discharged from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard and served during periods of armed conflict or emergency conditions. The program also recognizes those who received Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals or Campaign Service Medals, ensuring that various forms of military service are acknowledged.

The initiative reflects South Brunswick's commitment to preserving the memory of local service members while educating residents about the contributions these individuals made to national security and freedom.
