Hidden In Plain Sight: South Brunswick Event To Help Parents Recognize Substance Use

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Parents concerned about potential substance use among the youth will have an opportunity to learn valuable detection and prevention strategies at an upcoming community education event.

The South Brunswick Municipal Alliance to Prevent Substance Use Disorder is hosting an informational session titled "Recognizing Signs of Substance Use in Your Home" on Wednesday, April 23.

The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center, located at 540 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction.

Featured speaker Doug Collier, a former DEA agent, will lead an "enlightening evening" focused on how alcohol, drugs, and paraphernalia can be concealed in bedrooms, bathrooms, and other accessible locations throughout the home.

The presentation aims to help parents identify potential warning signs that might explain concerning behaviors in their children.

The free event will include refreshments, and all community members are welcome to attend. The program is funded by the South Brunswick Municipal Alliance to Prevent Substance Use Disorder as part of their ongoing community education initiatives.
