South Brunswick Launches 9-Week Citizen Police Academy
Here's your chance to get an inside look at law enforcement operations.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick residents have a unique opportunity this fall to experience police work firsthand through the department's Citizen Police Academy program.
The comprehensive nine-week course, beginning Wednesday, Sept.17, offers community members an inside look at law enforcement operations while building stronger relationships between residents and officers.
Classes will meet weekly from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the South Brunswick Police Department headquarters.

The academy curriculum covers essential aspects of modern policing, including traffic stop procedures, use of force protocols, and the role of body-worn cameras in law enforcement. Participants will also learn about first aid response techniques and evidence collection processes that officers use daily.
The hands-on approach includes practical exercises designed to simulate real-world scenarios that South Brunswick Police Officers encounter in the field.

Beyond classroom learning, the academy emphasizes experiential education. Participants will engage in role-playing exercises and scenario-based training that provides authentic insight into police decision-making processes and community safety protocols.
The program represents the department's ongoing commitment to transparency and community engagement.
Space in the academy is limited, and interested residents must complete an application process.
