South Brunswick Marching Band Takes 5th Place In National Competition

This is the Viking Marching Band's highest finish since before the pandemic, the school district said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The South Brunswick marching band has added another feather to it cap. The Viking Marching Band took fifth place in the US Bands Group V Open National Championships.

The band earned a remarkable score of 93.6, competing alongside 15 other top-tier bands from across the region. The competition was held at the Metlife Stadium.

The winner in this category was Upper Moreland High School, with a score of 98.100, followed by West Shore Marching Band in second place (95.900) and Norwalk High School in third place with a score of 95.850. Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School was placed fourth with a score of 93.950.

This is the Viking Marching Band highest finish since before the pandemic.

The school district congratulated the 120 students, and staff who dedicated their time and effort and worked tirelessly to bring their performance to life.
