South Brunswick PD To Collect Unused, Expired Prescription Drugs

It's time to rid your cabinets of outdated and easily abused opioid painkillers and other meds.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Mark your calendars. The South Brunswick Police Department has announced that it will help dispose of unused and expired prescription drugs during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Oct. 25.

The goal is to help residents rid their medicine cabinets of outdated and easily abused opioid painkillers and other unneeded prescription medications.

Residents can quickly drop off any unused and expired prescription pills, with no questions asked, at the police department headquarters, located at 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Medications should be taken out of their original containers and placed into paper/plastic bags.

Liquids, such as cough medicines, should be kept in their original containers. Vape pens with non-removable batteries will not be accepted. They pose a danger to DEA personnel and incinerator staff involved in the destruction phase of the NTBI process, because they may explode in the incinerator.

DEA will collect vape pens or other e-cigarette devices from individual consumers only after the batteries are removed from the devices.

Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a nationwide initiative aimed at safely disposing of unneeded and outdated prescription medications from homes, thereby reducing risks.
