South Brunswick Residents To Vote On Additional School Spending
The total cost to the average homeowner will be under $1 a month, Superintendent Scott Feder said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Come November South Brunswick residents will be voting for Council and Board of Education candidates. They will also be voting on an additional spending proposal from the school district.
The South Brunswick Board of Education is seeking voter approval for an additional spending proposal to raise $350,000 for General Funds in the 2024-2025 school year through a tax levy, according to the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office.
The taxes will be used to fund recreational usage for students and adults of certain District facilities from Monday through Saturday. The funds will be used to hire a facilities manager, permit tennis courts with lights for community usage, permit the high school track to be available for community use, and address costs associated with opening up facilities and yearly upkeep.

“We have had many requests over the years to expand the usage of facilities to residents and also we currently house the Township Rec programs in the schools at the expense of the district and at no cost to the Township,” Superintendent Scott Feder told Patch.
“This request for funds relates to our ability to expand the usage of our outdoor facilities such as tennis courts and the track, by establishing a fund for upkeep, as well as the hiring of a person to coordinate and interface with the community to make sign-ups and safety viable for the community members.”

If the question meets with voter approval, it will result in a permanent increase in the school district's tax levy.
“The total cost to the average homeowner for this will be under $1.00 per month,” Feder said.
“We believe the value to the community far exceeds this, which is why the Board elected to support the community in this way.”
