In a message to the community on Friday morning, Feder said leaving the school district was bittersweet moment.
“The truth is that South Brunswick has meant more to me than only being a place of work; I met my wife at Indian Fields, was married at B'Nai Tikvah (SB adjacent), met lifelong friends and the school community has become a part of my everyday life,” Feder said.

“It is for the reasons above, along with all of the wonderful relationships I have formed, that sharing with all of you that this will be my final year as your Superintendent, comes with many emotions.”
Feder will be retiring to spend more time with his wife, Jenn, and to move closer to their two daughters in New England.
Feder spent his first six-years as a teacher and assistant principal at the school district, and after a 20-year hiatus, returned as Superintendent of Schools, where he spent the last eight-years.
“This is a bittersweet time for me as I love South Brunswick and the families who make it an exceptional place to live and learn. There is still much to be done and I plan to remain thoroughly engaged in the work over the next few months. I want to thank you for the incredible support you have shown me over the last 8 years,” Feder said.
Until Sept. 1, Feder will perform regular daily operations and preparations for the new school year, while simultaneously working with the Board of Education and district staff towards a successful and smooth transition to the next Superintendent.
