South Brunswick Seeks Owner Of Dog That Bit Girl

The dog was leashed, but still bit an 8-year-old girl on the arm last Friday, Oct. 4 in Dean's Pond. The Twp. is now seeking the owner.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick police and Township health officials are looking for the woman who owns a dog that bit a child this past Friday, Oct. 4.

The incident took place on a walking path along Viking Way in the Dean's Pond development at around 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4.

An 8-year-old girl was jogging with two friends when they encountered a woman walking a dog on a leash. The dog jumped on the girl and bit her forearm. The woman pulled the dog back and asked the girl if she was OK, said police.

The girl said she was, and then went to a friend's house where they discovered the bite marks. The South Brunswick health department said they need to speak to the owner so they can advise on a treatment plan for the child, which presumably would contain a rabies shot.

The woman walking the dog was described as a white female in her 30s with curly red hair. The dog was described as having brown short hair with black on its tail and ears. The South Brunswick Health Department needs the owner to contact them immediately 732 329-4000 ext. 7237 .
