South Brunswick Seniors Can Apply Now for StayNJ Property Tax Relief Program

The Mayor has asked residents to avail themselves of the program benefits, which are set to launch in 2026.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – South Brunswick seniors can now take advantage of significant property tax relief through New Jersey's StayNJ tax relief program for its Fiscal Year 2026 budget, with the program set to launch in 2026.

Mayor Charlie Carley announced that the program will provide substantial financial assistance to help senior residents remain in their homes and communities.

“South Brunswick has always worked to keep our community affordable, and this program is a vital step toward helping seniors,” Carley said. “StayNJ ensures that residents who have contributed so much to our community can continue living in the homes they love with real financial relief.” "

The StayNJ program offers homeowners aged 65 and older up to $6,500 in property tax reimbursement – covering 50 percent of their annual property tax bill, with a maximum reimbursement of $13,000.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Homeowners must be 65 years or older
  • Must have owned and occupied their home for the entire 2024 calendar year
  • Household income must be below $500,000
  • Applications must be submitted by Oct. 31, 2025

Residents can now use a single, streamlined application to apply for StayNJ, ANCHOR, and Senior Freeze benefits simultaneously.

Applications are available online at www.nj.gov/treasury/taxation/staynj/, with payments expected in early 2026 following the processing of ANCHOR and Senior Freeze benefits.

“Seniors deserve meaningful property tax relief. Programs like StayNJ, ANCHOR, and Senior Freeze represent the kind of solutions that make it a bit easier for senior residents to age in place,” Carley said.

“I’ll continue to work with our LD-16 legislative team (Sen. Andrew Zwicker, Assemblypersons Roy Freiman & Mitchelle Drulis) to ensure these programs are protected and improved over time.”
