South Brunswick Water System Surpassed All Safety Standards In 2024, Consumer Report Says

According to the report, the water quality surpassed all state and federal safety standards.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick recently released its 2024 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). According to the report, the township’s water quality surpassed all state and federal safety standards.

The 2024 testing results showcase the effectiveness of South Brunswick's robust water management program, with zero regulatory violations recorded throughout the entire year.

The water for South Brunswick is obtained from deep wells in the Farrington Aquifer, which underlies the Dayton area of the Township.

The Township also purchases water from the New Jersey American Water Company (NJAW Co.).

According to the report, drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of these contaminants does not indicate that the water poses a health risk.

Some contaminants in the water may include viruses and bacteria from sewage treatment plants and septic systems; naturally occurring salts and minerals; synthetic and volatile organic chemicals, which are byproducts of industrial wastes and pesticides and herbicides.

But none of these were present at high levels in South Brunswick water.

The township’s water achieved compliance on all primary drinking water standards set by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

"These results validate our comprehensive approach to water quality management," said Brian Fusco, the township’s Water Division Supervisor. "Our team's proactive maintenance and continuous infrastructure improvements ensure South Brunswick residents receive exceptional drinking water quality. I want to thank Mayor and Township Council for their continued investment in our water system upgrades, which directly contribute to these outstanding results."

Here are some highlights from the report:

  • Zero Violations: All water samples met or exceeded safety thresholds, with no contaminants detected above maximum allowable concentrations.
  • Comprehensive Testing Program: The Township conducted rigorous monitoring of more than 50 regulated parameters throughout 2024, ensuring comprehensive coverage of potential contaminants.
  • Public Transparency: The complete Consumer Confidence Report is accessible online, providing residents with detailed water quality data and maintaining the Township's commitment to open communication.

The Township's water quality success stems from ongoing investments in treatment technology, distribution system maintenance, and staff training. Regular system upgrades and preventive maintenance protocols help ensure consistent delivery of high-quality water to all service areas.

"Transparency and community engagement are cornerstone principles of our water program," Fusco emphasized. "We encourage all residents to review the complete report, examine the testing data, and contact our office with any questions. Our mission is simple: deliver reliable, safe water while keeping our community fully informed about their water system."
