South Brunswick Woman Sells Viking T-Shirts To Help Food Pantry

A local South Brunswick woman is selling these t-shirts to raise money for the South Brunswick Food Pantry, so nobody goes hungry right now.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A local South Brunswick woman is selling these t-shirts to raise money for the South Brunswick Food Pantry, so nobody goes hungry in the pandemic.

"I had wanted to donate to our food pantry to help people who are unable to get enough meals, however — due to our own financial restrictions with COVID-19 — I was unable to," explained Erin Stern. "I still wanted to make a difference. Hillsborough ran a fundraiser and made over $5,000. I thought I can do the same thing for my town."

Stern said she "sat down and thought of what would encompass South Brunswick the best."

Stern grew up in Hillsborough, but has called South Brunswick home for the past three years, and has a daughter in a local elementary school here.

"Since there are so many 'sub towns' I didn’t want to say South Brunswick so I went with the high school mascot," she explained. "We are all filtered into one school in the end so it best represents the town. I chose #VikingStrong."

Each t-shirt is $20 and $10 of each purchase goes directly to the South Brunswick Food Pantry. The remaining pays for the shirt, printing and shipping to the buyer. All shipping is free for the buyer. You can buy a shirt here: https://twistedinkscreenprinting.printavo.com/merch/vikingstrong/

Stern said the shirt sold quickly at first, but confessed she has now hit "a bit of a wall." They are currently only at $1,770 of her $5,000 goal.

"I'm hoping we hit our goal, we have just under a week to go!" she said Tuesday.

The first set of shirts was shipped out May 7, and the second set will be done at the end of May.

"My goal is to prevent hunger during this terrible pandemic. No one in my community should be suffering," she said.
