Texas Man Faces Drug, DUI Charges Following Wrong-Way Crash In South Brunswick

The crash took place on Sunday, around 2:05 a.m. near Route 130 and Route 32.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A Houston, TX man faces multiple charges after driving the wrong way on Route 130 and causing a head-on collision early Sunday morning, South Brunswick police said.

On Sunday, around 2:05 a.m., Officer Justin Samuels responded to a two-vehicle crash near Route 130 and Route 32.

On arrival, officers found a silver Kia Forte with heavy front-end damage disabled in the left lane of Route 130 North. The driver, Gorge Placencia, 32, had turned the wrong way out of the Traveler’s Inn parking lot, driving south in the northbound lanes.

The second vehicle sustained significant damage in the crash. The driver reported minor leg pain but declined medical transport, police said.

During the investigation, cops developed probable cause that Placencia had narcotics. A consent search of the vehicle recovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Field sobriety tests were conducted, and Placencia showed signs of impairment.

He was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Marked Lanes, Wrong Way, and Improper Turn. He was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Placencia was taken to South Brunswick Police Department headquarters, processed, and released on a summons pending his first court appearance.

No serious injuries were reported in the crash.
