Vehicle Stolen From South Brunswick Recovered In Lyndhurst
Authorities used automated surveillance technology to help nab the perpetrators.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - A vehicle stolen from South Brunswick was recovered in Lyndhurst early Wednesday morning after a coordinated police effort involving multiple departments and automated surveillance technology.
The black 2019 Hyundai Sonata with Pennsylvania plates was reported stolen in South Brunswick before making its way north through multiple jurisdictions. At approximately 5:20 a.m., Lyndhurst police received an alert from Nutley authorities that the stolen vehicle might be entering their town via the DeJessa Memorial Bridge at Kingsland and Riverside avenues, according to Capt. Paul Haggerty.
Advanced surveillance technology played a crucial role in the recovery. An Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) camera provided real-time notification to police as the stolen South Brunswick vehicle passed through the intersection of Ridge Road and Union Avenue, traveling northbound.
