Video: Man Escapes Fiery Car Crash In South Brunswick

Police released dramatic footage from the crash on Route 130.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 21-year-old driver escaped serious injuries after his car caught fire following a crash in South Brunswick, police said.

On Wednesday, police released a video of the incident that took place Sunday.

Around 6:30 p.m., a driver struck a utility pole on Route 130. After striking the pole, his car caught fire, police said.

The video shows police and EMS arriving at the scene and officers requesting authorities to shut down traffic on the road.

The fire department then arrives and firefighters are seen immediately getting to work to douse the flames which have now engulfed almost the entire vehicle.

The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He told police he was unsure why he lost control.
