Vikings Drop Second Straight Game

South Brunswick High School loses 27-8 at Old Bridge.

South Brunswick High School Coach Joseph Goerge knew heading into the season that it would be no small task for the Vikings to repeat as Group 5 State Champions, but a tough schedule has left the Vikings reeling after their second straight loss Friday.

Coming off a 26-18 defeat to Monroe, SBHS hit the road again and lost 27-8 to Old Bridge. Marcus Jackson scored the lone touchdown for the Vikings on an 11-yard pass from Amir Johnson in the first quarter.

Johnson would finish the game 5 of 10 for 38 yards and one touchdown through the air, with 13 carries for 32 yards on the ground. Dahrae Ford carried the ball eight times for 41, while Dontae Strickland carried the ball 13 times for 55 yards.

The loss drops the Vikings to 1-2 on the season. SBHS will look to some home cooking Friday to get back in the win column at home against Edison at 7 p.m.
