SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Two home burglaries were recently reported in a four-day span in South Orange, police say.

The South Orange Police Department released the following details about the burglaries in their online blotter:

June 5 – “While on patrol, a SOPD officer observed a black dodge followed by a grey BMW X7 traveling at a high speed. The officer attempted to catch up to investigate further by activating the lights. Once neither of the vehicles stopped, the officer turned off the lights and did not engage in pursuit, and then notified the police headquarters of the activity. The officer returned to locations where similar vehicles were known to park. The officer noticed that the BMW X7 that was parked in the driveway of Halsey Place was no longer in the driveway. Upon further investigation, the door leading to the kitchen area was smashed in and wide open. After speaking with the residents, they reported that their BMW X7 parked in their driveway and its key fob were missing.
