A three-alarm fire tore through two connected homes in Orange early Wednesday morning, displacing almost one dozen people.

The fire raged in the two-family home in the 200 block of North Day Street shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to WABC 7. A neighbor called 911 to report the fire after seeing flames come from the home, WABC reported.

The fire originated in the basement of the two-family home, which was occupied at the time of the fire, and quickly spread to a vacant home, WABC reported. Fire officials told ABC 7 that icy conditions created difficulties battling the flames.
